The most popular open source media player team (VideoLan), have released latest version of VLC media player with an interface refresh for Linux, Windows and Unix. The release version of VLC media player is code-named as Grishenko. Video playback, new protocols, new codecs, new demuxers and many bug-fixes have been added to support more formats. VLC 0.9.2 displays album art, includes a metadata editor, scrobbles to Last.fm, and even includes YouTube video support (just give VLC the URL of the video you want to watch).

If in case you have a movie on a DVD which has got corrupted sectors then u can only watch the movie with some problems but u can’t copy the file onto your hard disk. But by using this software you can copy the uncorrupted data onto your Hard Disk and the corrupted part will be skipped(which is not possible with normal windows copying).
