Bollywood introduces a new technology
“Gandhi, My Father” was the first bollywood film to be scanned in 4K resolution. It was possible with the initiative taken by “Prasad EFX” a leading Indian post production house. They have used “Autodesk’s Lusture” color grading and color correction system for the digital intermediate process in the film. The biggest challenge for Prasad EFX; the feature is set in the 20th century and they had to recreate this periods look and feel in the actual movie.
The cinematographer’s vision came alive on the big screen in real time during the post production and color grading process. It was possible with the 4K scanning. In the movie you will find some sequences which will look like the footage from old films-speeded up and shaky, the technicians could do this as the software provided them with color-timing aids helping them to achieve the required effect for each sequence.
Prasad EFX has also given 1000 VFX shots for the movie krrish.
