India become the world champion in T20 cricket and media and public welcomes there heroes with the open

Heart. More than 8 lakh Cricket fans gather to welcome team India in Mumbai. Interviews of relatives and fans of Men in Blue broadcasted exclusively on each NEWS channel.

When our Hockey Team overwhelm Korea by 7-2 in Asia Cup Final and won Asia cup, we didn’t arranged any procession for them. In order of rewards, BCCI announces rewards of US $2M where as IHF announces Rs.1000/- for a goal and Rs.2000/- deducted for every Goal conceded. This is what our IHF doing with players of our National Sport. As a result we are not encouraging our youth towards other sports like CHESS, HOCKEY, FOOTBALL , ATHLETICS, etc.

Due to lack in basic sports techniques, we not stand in any run in Olympics. We play plenty amount of cricket but we never stand No. 1 in ICC World Cricket Rating. Where as Sports players in Australia especially in Cricket won the Cricket World Cup three times even in Olympics they stand ahead in other sprots like Hockey, Gymnastic and also hold the top ten position in Olympics. Its a question we should ask ourselves, where is India in Olympics medal-o-run.

When Mr. Rathod won the Gold Medal for India and i remember at that time we were dancing like we won the Olympic. Under performance in sports, it doesn’t meant that we are lagging in talent. We have a golden past of Hockey. Our tennis players also improving their world ranking. Our Football team created history by wining NEHRU CUP.

Step-motherly attitude leads us to the way of failure. An unbiasedin Sports Policy in India is the need of time. Olympics are scheduled nest year and we want should prove ourselves.

I really want to know (from you guys) the ways by which we can promote a healthy and unbiased Sports Culture in India ?

Well said.Cricket is like a craze which has grappled every single Indian, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.A fresh example would be the victory of Indian Hockey team at the asian cup.No one knows we just achieved that. But ask even a beggar, and he would be very eager to tell you about how Dhoni’s young-vibrant team won the T20 world-cup.

For a quick brush-up of facts:
Cricket is the English national sport.
    India’s national sport is HOCKEY.

Also, for all the pro-cricket audience out there,a sane human being can play a host of different sports ranging from hockey,football,table-tennis,lawn-tennis,basket-ball, etc.

Its all depend on how popular the game becomes… making a game popular can be one of the method if Govt. takes an effort in doing so.. As Mr. Jagmohan Dalmia (Former BCCI Head) sold the rights to company and made a good advertisement.. I think because of that good decision by him Cricket got a great popularity… and BCCI earned more than thousand crore rupees…n finally kicked off n replaced with Mr. Sharad Pawar..

I just want to say if some money is sanctioned by Govt. for a game where does all money goes??… Its corruption here too, a sanctioned money doesn’t reaches to a player.

The smart idea would be: selling the rights to company by the individual game committee itself and keep the money with them rather than sharing it with govt.

    I think this should help….

the cricket players ( if i am not wrong) got loads of money for their stint in the finals….. like real LOADS of money……

is dis the same government who says that we do not have the money to fund other sports…. like it had happened some months bac when narien karthikeyen had to go for sum race….

where does all ths money come from? is ths y we are payin our taxes?

Very true Annie. Government always refuses to award th persons but for Cricket they have everything. Even when Mr. Rathod won the gold medal of India he only got praise but no cash prize(i think he don’t want it though :P)

Some committees should look into the budget of the government which is dedicated for the sports.
